GAP Only allows eligible insured pet owners to process an insurance claim while your at the vet. You simply pay the gap (the difference between the vet’s invoice and your eligible claim benefit) and off you go. At Brunker Road, clients can utilize GAP Only for all procedures and hospital stays if their policy is eligible.
From 31 March 2026, RSPCA Australia will transition its pet insurance to a new underwriter. As part of this change, there will be an update to how Gap Only claims are processed.
What this means for you:
New policies (purchased from 31 March 2026):
These policies will no longer support Gap Only claims or pre-approvals. This means payments will need to be made in full at the time of your visit, and claims submitted directly to your insurer for reimbursement.
Existing policies (purchased before 31 March 2026):
If you already hold an RSPCA Pet Insurance policy, you can continue to use Gap Only services as usual, provided your policy remains active. When your current policy expires, a replacement policy will be offered that recognizes pre-existing conditions and does not require new waiting periods. No immediate action is required, but you should look out for information regarding your policy renewal and the changes to the provider.
