Senior Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Small Animal Surgeon
The Brunker Road Veterinary Centre, Newcastle’s leading veterinary hospital, is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our friendly team of highly skilled veterinarians and support staff. The ideal candidate is committed to the highest level of patient care, enjoys a varied caseload and possesses excellent communication skills. The position would best suit an applicant that has achieved a minimum of membership to the ANZCVS in Small Animal Surgery or equivalent, with further advanced surgical training preferable. Motivated surgeons looking to expand their surgical skill set are also encouraged to apply.
The role will involve management of both referral and primary opinion surgical cases including:
- Fracture repairs, joint surgery, TPLOs, thoracic/abdominal surgery, oncological reconstructions.
- Performing diagnostic imaging including endoscopy, radiology, CT and arthroscopy.
- Managing neurology cases (surgical +/- medical) including performing spinal surgery (not essential but preferred), myelography and CSF taps.
- Assisting other veterinary associates with their surgical cases and progression of their surgical skills.
The Brunker Road Veterinary Centre is a custom-built hospital with 12 veterinarians, 6 consulting rooms, 3 fully equipped surgical theatres, a separate post-operative recovery area and large central treatment room. Our advanced imaging equipment includes DR and dental radiography, a MyLab ultrasound machine, Storz arthroscopy equipment, rigid and flexible video endoscopy, and a 2020 GE 16 slice CT. The hospital also has an extensive in-house laboratory.
We service a large area of the Hunter and North Coast region, providing primary care to a dedicated client base, as well as receiving medical and surgical referrals.
