Maya grew up in San Diego, California before moving to Hawaii, where she completed a Bachelor of Animal Science while working as a veterinary nurse. In 2019, she moved to Sydney to study her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2022.
Following graduation, Maya completed an internship in emergency medicine here in Newcastle, developing a passion for the fast-paced and rewarding nature of emergency and critical care. She is now excited to broaden her experience in general practice while continuing to develop her clinical and surgical skills. Her professional interests include developing her surgical skills, working with wildlife and exploring cases involving behaviour and neurology.
Maya is passionate about providing the best possible care for her patients and advocating for their wellbeing. She looks forward to building long-term relationships with her clients and their loved ones, ensuring they feel supported and cared for throughout their pets’ lives.
Outside of work, Maya enjoys spending time with her fiancé and their two dogs, Maverick, a German Shepherd and Ellie, a Beagle. She loves anything ocean-related, especially freediving and surfing, as well as going to the gym and Pilates.
